What is a typical day like at Vandebilt Catholic?
Classes begin each day at 7:55am and dismissal is at 3:00pm. The school day is based on eight periods a day, with one of those being the student’s lunch period. Special schedules allow for school Masses, Liturgies and assemblies, or for Pep Rallies.

How often do you have Mass?
Our school-wide mass is held every Tuesday in our Brother Alfred Kolb Center. Morning mass is offered Wednesday through Friday in our Chapel.

How do students use technology?
Students must bring their fully-charged Chromebook devices to school each day.
Students may purchase their own Chromebook devices or participate in our new Chromebook Purchase Program, where families can purchase their device directly through the school. Any questions regarding technology specs may be directed to Warren Gabriel, Director of Technology at wgabriel@htdiocese.org.
The package will include:

What kind of academic support is available to students?
- Our S.O.A.R. Program is a resource program under the direction of Mrs. Marion Larke. The goal of the S.O.A.R. program is to help students with various learning differences achieve success in their academic courses. Aside from accommodations, the S.O.A.R. program also offers skills and practical classes to better meet the needs of students with learning differences.
- The Counseling Center is designed to assist each student with academic and emotional support. Our Counseling Center is made up of three counselors that will move with your student throughout their time at Vandebilt Catholic.
- The Academic Excellence program in the Library takes place at the second half of your student’s lunch period and is a center for assistance with classwork, homework, and research, staffed by core subject teachers and open daily.

How are students placed into classes?
Incoming students are placed in On-Level and/or Honors-level courses based on elementary school grades, standardized test scores, and High School Placement Test scores.

How is lunch served in the cafeteria?
Vandebilt’s lunch is provided by Sysco. Hot breakfasts and lunches are served every day. Lunch accounts must be set up through PaySchools Central at www.payschoolscentral.com. Students may also bring their own lunches. Vandebilt does not participate in the federally-funded school lunch program, however applications are available for reduced lunch. The application can be found under the Menu tab of the PaySchools site once your account has been set up.
The requirements to apply for reduced lunch are:
- Must currently receive Tuition Assistance from Vandebilt Catholic
- Must meet recommended Income Eligibility Guideline
- Must have all necessary financial documents loaded into FACTS
- Applications without proof of income will NOT be processed

Is bus transportation provided to and from school?
Terrebonne Parish provides transportation for our students to and from Vandebilt Catholic.

What parking and security is offered at Vandebilt Catholic?
For security and convenience, a student/faculty parking lot is located at the rear of the campus. Our on-site School Resource Officer is available during the school day, as well as at major events on campus. Visitors must park in the front of school and enter in through the front office. Each family is responsible for a security fee each school year for the SRO.

How early can students be dropped off and how late can they stay on campus?
Students can be dropped off on campus no earlier than 7:20 am. Students that are not involved in a supervised activity must be off campus by 3:30pm. Any remaining students will be required to report to aftercare, which closes at 5:30 pm. Aftercare is a free service to our families.

Are athletic scholarships offered?
No. Vandebilt Catholic High School supports the policies of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA). In doing so, Vandebilt Catholic High School may not promise or offer athletic scholarships of any kind. Violations may result in loss of eligibility for the student, coach, and/or school.

What are the athletic eligibility requirements?
We follow the guidelines set forth by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association regarding athletic eligibility.

Do students need to complete service hours?
Yes! 8th grade students must complete a total of 15 service hours per year. 9th-12th grade students must complete a total of 20 hours per year. For more information, please see our Service Hour Requirements here.

What is the H.O.P.E. Program?
The H.O.P.E. Program stands for Higher Options for People with Exceptionalities. It offers a modified inclusion setting for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The goal is to prepare students for the transition to life after high school while continuing to emphasize academic achievement.
